Quantum Measurement Engineer

Location: Delft
Type: Full-time
Posted on: 14 Jan 2026

Be a part of the development of the scalable quantum computer of the future by performing state-of-the-art qubit measurements.

Description

Groove Quantum is building the scalable quantum computer of the future, based on semiconductor germanium quantum dots. Quantum computing is a rapidly advancing field with the potential to deliver transformative impact across science, industry, and society.

At Groove, we combine our proprietary germanium quantum processor technology with world-class semiconductor manufacturing to define a truly scalable quantum architecture. By integrating our leading semiconductor quantum processors into full-stack, operational quantum computers, we deliver both the hardware and software required to move quantum computing beyond the lab.

Join our multidisciplinary R&D team to develop and build scalable quantum systems. We are currently looking for a Quantum Measurement Engineer, to play a key role in building a robust measurement pipeline that enables automated, high-throughput characterization of quantum-relevant metrics across thousands of qubits.

In this role, you will work in our quantum measurement team, collaborating closely with our software engineers to design, develop, and implement quantum control and automation strategies, and analyse large data sets of qubit performance metrics. The insights you generate will feed directly into systems engineering decisions, contributing to the design, optimization, and operation of large-scale quantum systems.

Main responsibilities

  • Work with state-of-the-art semiconductor quantum processors.
  • Set up the framework to enable high-throughput measurements of quantum-relevant metrics.
  • Design, develop, and implement the measurement and control strategies to automate QPU tune-up and characterization.
  • Implement an analysis framework to track device performance and correlate design parameters with measured outcomes.
  • Work together with our theorists, software engineers, and fabrication engineers to enable our R&D efforts.

Key qualifications

  • You have a PhD, or PhD-level experience in physics, electronics, or a related field.
  • Proven experience conducting experimental research in quantum computing, preferably involving (spin) qubit operation and/or quantum dot physics.
  • Proficiency in Python for quantum control, experiment automation, and data analysis.
  • Hands-on experience building and operating experimental setups, including AWGs, digitizers, DACs, and cryogenic systems.
  • Ability to work independently while taking responsibility and ownership of R&D projects.
  • A goal-driven mindset with a strong engineering approach.
  • Motivation to thrive in a startup environment and contribute actively to the success of a highly driven team.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, paired with the ability to develop effective solutions and advance technology.
  • A strong command of written and spoken English, as you will be working in an international environment.

If you are very excited about this role but do not meet every requirement, we still encourage you to apply.
